Her bio is below: \nShannon Milliman is the inaugural Poet Laureate of Florence\, Alabama. A poet\, playwright\, essayist\, performer\, and storyteller\, her work explores the merging of family\, faith\, identity\, and place. She is the author of What If God Is? What If I Am?\, published by 7 Points Press\, and creator of the nationally toured one-woman show Not So Supernova\, a humorous and jagged edge exploration of motherhood and human imperfection. Most recently\, she appeared as Karen Weston in August: Osage County at Cypress Moon Studios in Sheffield. Raised in Alaska\, shaped by the Pacific Northwest\, and now rooted in the Shoals\, Milliman blends theatricality\, vulnerability\, and humor to create memorable experiences on both the page and the stage. By day\, she works in training and workforce development\, where she champions lifelong learning and believes creative expression is not reserved for artists alone but is essential work for us all. \nThe generative workshop will be in Cramer 307 at 11am on October 14. DESCRIPTION:Come learn about the 2027 Scotland Study Abroad Program. The program will immerse students in the cultural landscapes of Edinburgh\, Newbattle\, Loch Tay\, and Dunbar. Using trees as a lens for exploring history\, memory\, and environmental change\, students will work with Scottish heritage professionals to conduct archival and map research\, oral histories\, landscape documentation\, and visitor surveys. They will combine their findings in a digital StoryMap and short reports while developing practical skills in historical research\, digital mapping\, heritage interpretation\, and collaborative fieldwork. Students do not need to be a history major or a history graduate student to participate!

The Alabama Germany Partnership will also be attending with information on all German companies in Alabama. \nFind out how work\, research\, and study relating to Germany can extend your job opportunities. The UNA German Club will also be at the event to give out free German books and samples of German chocolate. A German history poster exhibit will also be set up in the browse fair. Free t-shirts to the first 200 attendees. \nCommunity members are also encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the extensive career opportunities with German companies and about funding from the German government.
